The plans for the educational set basic base.  Note retail customers won't have the steel ball caster in their kits.  If you want to order the caster and ball separately, Google "Technic Steering Ball Receptacle 92911" and the steel ball itself (item bb607).  The ball is a 18mm steel ball if you need to get it elsewhere (though not technically legal for FLL competition.)

This simple base, the RileyRover from Damien Kee will get you going fast.  It's not quite a flexible nor as sturdy as the Lego education model above but as a way to get going with a minimum of building it's a good way to go. There are two sets of plans on Daminen's site, one uses the Lego steel ball caster and the other uses parts from the home kit.
